  Chiropractor

Tracey wrote on the 12 May 2008

Hi my name is Tracey Murphy and I'm 23 years old. I was diagnosed with ST months after I slipped and feel on the ice outside of my old workplace. I am going to a chiropractor today and wondering if anyone has found relief in going to one. I was perscribed Klonopins and haven't taken them in three days to find out my neck is in so much pain not taking them but was told it's better not to take them. Does anyone have any experience with Chiropractors?

  Chiropractor

flyboy responded on the 12 May 2008

There is evidence that chiropractors can help alleviate lower back pain. I dont beleive there's any evidence that they can help with any other complaints. Many chiros do claim they can heal just about anything but they have nothing to support this on. One might note that chircopractic is not risk free and people have been injured visiting them. There's a very good chapter in "Trick or Treatment" by Ezard Ernst(the UKs only Professor OF Alternative Medicine) and Simon Singh on chiropractic, I highly reccomend it.

  Spasmodic Torticollis

Andrea wrote on the 28 April 2008

Hi, my name is Andrea and i was diagnosed with ST July 2007. I had the condition about 12 years ago which lasted about 3 months, which then went away of its own accord. I am on good painkillers and medication for the spasms, but have been unable to work or drive since my diagnosis. I have also been having Botox injections, but these do not seem to be have much effect :-(
Is there anyone else out there who may be having a similar experience with Botox injections for their ST?

Tom,

Thanks for keeping this thread going. I knew many Nikken "consultants" and reading the cult-like responses of the Nikken distributors on this forum makes my stomach turn. You mention that there are other water systems that are effective. Could you post the links?

  acceptance in sanskrit

Kayla King wrote on the 09 April 2008

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I have been getting ourselves involved with buddhism over the past several months. A lot has happened to us over the past years, a lot that has to deal with acceptance of each other entirely, with all of our faults. I was thinking about getting a tattoo of the word "acceptance" on my right foot. Now, I asked him what would be the form of writing closely related to Buddhism...and he said sanskrit...

Is that the right form of writing...and could anyone translate it for me into that language...I would use one of the sites that cost money, but my finacial situation is pretty darn tight right now....talk about a poor art student in college!

thanks so much...it really means a lot to me!
love and peace
kay

  Natural Therapies For Pain relief

Cassie M wrote on the 26 March 2008

I've had arthritis for many years and tried lots of products, meds and therapies. Nikken didn't work for me and was very expenive. When the sales agent rang me to sell me more stuff he didn't like me saying that I hadn't achieved the results he'd promised. I have had really good results with other natural therapies, which, while they don't make over-the-top claims do gently seem to work. Far infrared therapy garments have definitely helped my arthritic knees, fingers and hands as well as my father's bad feet. You can find out more info from There are tips about helping relieve pain naturally as well as preventing problems such as carpal tunnel. They have some info on medical studies...good food for thought.

Hi Sheila, how ru doing? I have ST and my head is pulled to the right. I was diagnosed in July last year, and at times the spasms were so strong they nearly pulled me over when i was upright. I am taking Baclofen for the spasms which has helped a lot, and Solpadol and Ibuprofem for the pain, which have also helped a lot. I am having Botox injections too, but unfortunately are not having much effect at the moment. U can get some good help and advice from the Dystonia Society if you need it, including ways of coping

A Simple Path is based on talks by The Dalai Lama given in London during the mid 1990’s the Dalai Lama is widely respected as one of the world's great spiritual teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, most traditions find his work both acceptable and inspiring, because he tends to stress the universal features rather than narrow and restricted doctrine. The book covers the Four Noble Truths: the nature of suffering; the origin of suffering and the law of karma; cessation of suffering through liberation; and the path to achieving this. There are also many fantastic quality images of Tibet.

Between Therapist and Client: The New Relationship
Michael Kahn

This book examines one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of psychotherapy, that of the therapist and client relationship. Kahn discusses theoretical information and explains it in such a way that it can be understood and utilised within daily practice with clients. Kahn shows how classical transference analysis can be combined with contemporary humanistic emphasis on warmth and empathy. With discussion of ethics and the minefield of transference and countertransference. It is appropriate as a supplement for courses on psychotherapy and counselling in both theory and practice.
