Transcendental Meditation is a specific form of meditation in
which the person meditating uses a given mantra. The Mantra can be a word or phrase
which is repeated during the period of meditation.
Generally meditation lasts for 15-20 minutes and is
"performed" twice a day. The eyes are closed and the meditator can be
sitting or standing, either alone or in a group.
The objective is to become aware of conscious thought and
transcend mental processes.
The mantra is often "given" to the individual after some
discussion.
Transcendental Meditation is said to be non religious and is
claimed to be scientifically proven method to improve health.
